When you think of Thailand, Phuket may come to mind first. Being the epitome of Thailand’s gorgeous beaches, exciting nightlife, and beautiful attractions, Phuket is definitely the place to be!
As part of Meaningful Travel, there are thousands of ways to maximize your traveling experiences while making a positive impact on the environment and community. We’re here to make your vacation special by giving you the opportunity to not only save money but also give back while doing activities you love.
There’s so much to do in Phuket that you may get overwhelmed, but don’t worry. After just spending a week there, I have a list of essential things worth doing!
1. Book an awesome place to stay!
What’s better than traveling while also staying at a gorgeous resort or villa? Phuket is home to hundreds of beach resorts that have beautiful pools, great service, and stunning views of the beach. If you’re looking for some inspiration on places to stay, check out Socialgiver. Here, you’ll find plenty of resorts to stay at for a great price, and you’re also giving back to different social projects that could support education, the environment, health, and more! Some great places include Villa Zolitude Resort & Spa, Andara Phuket, and The Racha.
2. Explore the nearby islands
It’s super easy to take a boat for the day and travel around the islands of the vast Andaman Sea. We took a ferry to Ko Phi Phi for two days which is more than enough time to visit its stunning beaches and gorgeous viewpoints. During our time here, we also hopped on a boat and visited the renowned Maya Bay and other destinations like Monkey Beach, Pileh Lagoon, and Lohsamah Bay too!
In Phuket, we booked a full day boat tour to see the famous James Bond Island, kayak through caves, and swim at Hong and Lana Island. I highly recommend booking a tour so you can see as much as you can in an extremely efficient manner! If you’re looking for some inspiration, check out this Love Andaman tour where you can get a whole day of island hopping around the Koh Phi Phi, Similan or Surin route!
3. Visit the Big Buddha
If you look up at the large mountain ranges and hills in the distance, you’re likely to see a massive Buddha, maybe even the largest one you’ll ever see! If you’re interested in the culture and history of Thailand, this Big Buddha is worth the visit. I took a motorbike up the mountain, but you can also take a van, taxi, or even hike up! Once you reach the top, you’ll be rewarded by a beautiful Buddha made of white jade marble and breathtaking views of the mountains, beaches, and city of Phuket.
4. Go ziplining or drive an ATV
Want to explore the nature life of Phuket aside from the beaches? There are so many opportunities to see the life that grows here. If you want to feel the air and excitement, an ATV ride through the jungle is the choice for you. Alternatively, you can climb, swing, and soar through the wonderland of nature with Hanuman World. A culmination of excitement, fresh air, and remarkable views — don’t miss out on these opportunities!
5. Relax at the beach
What’s a vacation if you don’t sit back and simply relax? Traveling is exhausting, and sometimes you’ll need some downtime. In Phuket, Kata Beach, Patong, and Freedom Beach are all beautiful beaches. If you like to surf, parasail, jetski, or simply just lay down and soak in the sun’s rays, these are all great contendors. I highly recommend watching the sunrise or sunset at these beaches as well!
Phuket is full of many opportunities, and these are just a few recommendations. No matter what, you’ll experience beautiful sights and exciting activities!
